Chisel is a photo editor for adults. We built it privacy-first: almost everything runs on your device, and your photos are never uploaded — with one clearly-marked exception, the optional AI Transform feature, described below. This policy explains what data is involved and your choices.
The on-device tools — body and face adjustments, filters, background removal, pose and segmentation detection — run locally on your phone. For these tools we do not upload, store, or have access to your photos. Edited images are saved only where you choose (your gallery, or an app you share to). The only feature that sends a photo off your device is AI Transform (see below), and only when you tap it.
The optional AI Transform feature is different from the on-device tools: when you tap it, the selected photo is sent over an encrypted connection to a third-party cloud AI provider that generates the enhanced image and returns it. The photo is used only to produce your result and is deleted after processing; it is not used to train AI models. AI Transform is off by default, we ask for your agreement before the first time you use it, and it only runs when you choose it. The on-device tools never upload your photos.

Before showing personalized ads we ask for your consent (GDPR/UMP), and on iOS we request App Tracking Transparency permission before using any advertising identifier. You can decline and still use the app.
Edits made with AI tools are labelled “AI-edited” in the app and tagged in the exported file’s metadata, so AI-generated or AI-altered images are disclosed (EU AI Act and similar laws).
Chisel is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR/EEA, UK, California/CCPA) you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data, and withdraw consent at any time. Because your photos stay on your device for the on-device tools (and AI Transform photos are deleted after processing), deleting the app removes your local images along with local app data. We use Google Analytics 4 (a service of Google LLC) to understand how the website is used: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive (for example from a search engine), approximate location (country or region, derived from the IP address — Google truncates the IP address and does not store it), browser and device type, and interactions such as clicks on download links. For this, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on our domain (_ga and _ga_…, kept for up to 2 years) that recognise a browser on repeat visits. These cookies do not identify you by name, and we do not link website analytics to any app account or in-app data. Google processes this information on its own servers, which may be outside your country, under its privacy policy and its description of how Google uses information from sites that use its services. We keep analytics reports for 14 months and use them only to improve the website and its content — never for advertising.
Our hosting provider (Google Firebase Hosting) keeps standard server logs (IP address, time of request, pages requested, browser) for security and operations.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or use a content-blocking extension — the website works fully without these cookies. If you have questions about analytics on the website, contact us using the details below.
